Trip to Auckland

As you will have read in an earlier posting I won a trip to Auckland with Duffy and Books in Homes.

Tamati and I left home at 5.15am - yawning all the way to Timaru. We hopped on out first flight at 6am to Wellington. After a bit of a wait in Wellington we boarded flight number two and headed to Auckland. We were met at Auckland by Phil, from Books in Homes, who was our guide for the day.

I was one of five teachers who had been chosen for this special opportunity and while we waited for others to arrive we had a great cup of coffee...

After leaving the airport the day past very quickly. We visited the Scholastic warehouse and were blown away by all the work they do - publishing books, the lucky book orders, book fairs and organising the Duffy books for schools.

At the warehouse there are a large number of books and each of us were lucky enough to be able to choose some for our class... I was able to bring back 45 books and give each member of the class a free book.

By the time we made it back to Waimate and our house it was 8.30pm - a long, tiring but fantastic day!
