Feel soft like a fluffy pillow
Light when you pick them
Orange, red and green too
Water them to make them sprout
Everyday they will sprout
Rainbow colours for you and me
Smell like my Mum's perfume.

Spring has arrived

In Ruma Tui we began to look at spring at the end of term 3. We talked about what changes in the environment when the season changes from winter to spring.

We had some special visitors to school.

All the children spent time planting some seeds and watching them grow.

Earthquake Writing

I wiggled on the top bunk with my brother. I felt safe because I had my pillow over my head. It blocked my ears. The earthquake broke my concrete.

Duffy Poems

We wrote poems for Duffy's (Books in Homes) birthday. We entered them in a competition to win a trip to Auckland to see the Books in Homes offices and help celebrate Duffy's 15th birthday. We wrote some awesome poems but no one was lucky enough to win the trip - maybe next time! Enjoy reading some of our poems below.

Welcome back 2010

Welcome back to Ruma Tui for 2010.

We have had a great start to the term with the children showing an eagerness to learn new things. All the children work really well together and they love to help and play together. Mrs Soper already knows she has the best class in the school!

Term One is always a busy term with things like - camp week, life education, safe walking happening during the term. As a class we are focussing on getting to know each other, setting class routines and learning about our school community.

Swimming is well underway with all children loving having a splash on the really 'hot' days we have had so far.

Over the term the children will be making 'posts' on the blog and we will we adding photos, slideshows and pictures of our work.

Here's looking forward to a busy term!
