ANZAC

We learnt about ANZAC day.

ANZAC stands for Australia, New Zealand Army Corps.

On ANZAC day we remember all the men and women who have fought and died for our country in wars.

As a class we made poppies - poppies are worn on ANZAC day because they were the first things to grow in Flanders Field after the great war (1914-1918)

We made a wreath using our poppies - people lay wreathes on war memorials to show their respect for those who fought in wars.

We read, 'My Grandad Marches on ANZAC Day' by Catriona Hoy & Benjamin Johnson.
This explained to us why people march on ANZAC Day and what it means to war veterans and their families.

Mrs Saunders-Tack and Mrs Clarkson came and helped us make ANZAC biscuits. They were yummy with some being very big!
